Hello! And welcome to our first blog ever! We thought it would be a great way to kick off the year and the decade by finally starting a blog! My name is Emily and my gal pal Jess and I own Style Society together. I like to think of Style Society as a kind of style hub. We are all things style! And we love pretty much all styles! I would say we do tend to lean more heavily in the vintage and boho styles, but we don’t discriminate! We offer home styling & staging, event rentals & styling, and we have this bad ass clubhouse in Northeast Minneapolis that we offer access to photographers and creatives for photo shoots, workshops, and most recently coworking days! Since starting Style Society we have been able to be a part of so many amazing events already. It’s been a very exciting experience!
We officially launched in May of 2019, so we are still working on getting our name out into the community and growing our business! Things have been great for the most part and I feel so confident in the potential of this business! Some days are hard, don’t get me wrong. Things rarely seem to go as planned. Sometimes we ask ourselves if we bit off more than we could chew with this. But we have put our heart and soul, blood, sweat and tears into this business and have no plans of ever giving up! Rome wasn’t built in a day, ya know. And we are over here trying to build an empire baby. (Insert too many emojis)
In terms of what to expect from this little blog, I don’t really know. I guess we plan to talk about what we are up to? Share photos from events, photo shoots, things that inspire us, tips, more about the team, and maybe some frustrations just to keep things real? It’s a flexible plan that I am open to changing and evolving over time! You can expect to hear from both myself and Jess twice a month, but beyond that...your guess is as good as mine on the content right now.
I suppose I should start by telling you a little about myself! I am originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin and I recently turned the big 3-0! I am a Virgo through and through. I love a good old fashioned, my pup Finn, and true crime podcasts and TV shows! I have a background in antiques and floral. My Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma all owned antique shops growing up. I have always been around antiques, flea markets, and rusty dusty gems. It’s basically in my blood. I love the hunt and giving things a second life! When I was 16 I got a job at a flower shop and fell in love with flowers pretty much right away. I worked my way up to managing that flower shop and at some point started freelance designing weddings in Eau Claire! I eventually ended up moving to Minnesota and started Moody Hues floral with my friend Ashley. We have been in business for going on three years now and it has been awesome! In 2019 we did over 40 weddings! Jess and I met working at a furniture and home decor store and we would always daydream about different businesses we could start based on our passions and that my friends is how the concept for Style Society was born. Jess has a background in interior design and with my background in events we thought we could merge the two and offer some in home styling, home staging, and event rentals in one business. It wasn’t until we stumbled upon the warehouse space that the clubhouse was born! It was meant to be! We jumped in head first and have been paddling like hell ever since!
I am seriously so excited for 2020. I feel like we are at the tipping point of turning this little business into something huge. We have big goals for this year and decade. So stay tuned, jump on the bandwagon, and let’s kick some ass together!
